Jailed: Jessica Coz, 30, was sentenced to 15 years in jail and a lifetime of probation for having sex with a 13-year-old student
While she was having the on-going sexual relationship, she was the band director at Castle Dome Middle School and also taught private trombone lessons outside of school.
She was arrested in April last year after the victim's family reported her to police.
Court documents also state that Coz, who is a mother-of-two, showed the victim - now 14 - pornography on her computer between 1 August, 2010 and 18 April, 2011.
According to the complaint filed against her in Yuma Justice Court, Coz allegedly had sexual intercourse with the victim on at least two occasions.
Her defense attorney Victoria Thompson asked Judge Nelson to consider Coz's children in his judgment.
She said: 'Your Honor, I'm asking the court to allow contact while she's incarcerated with her two minor children who are aged two and five.'
Since she had no previous record, he approved access to her children, according to KSWT news.
But Judge Nelson told her: 'There isn't a question - your conduct was reprehensible. Now I'll state the obvious. We don't see too many female defendants charged with these offenses.
'That doesn't mean it's rare or unusual, it just means they sometimes don't get caught. And society doesn't think that that happens that way.
'It's amazing to me, Miss Coz. With your education and your responsibilities that you would think you'd never get caught. It's just amazing.'
