BABY FOUND DEAD AT BOOTLEG DAYCARE

Philadelphia police are investigating the death of a baby boy in Oxford Circle. It happened at an unlicensed daycare center at a home on the 1300 block of Hellerman Street, according to police.

Investigators say the 4-month-old infant was found unresponsive by people working at the daycare shortly before noon on Tuesday.
Around 20 to 25 children were inside the home when paramedics arrived.

The baby was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:39 p.m. While police interviewed several workers at the daycare center, no charges have been filed at this time. Investigators don’t suspect foul play and say the death does not appear to be suspicious. Police do say however that the daycare center should not have been opened since it was unlicensed.
“She’s a good lady, her house is always clean and everything was fine,” said one parent of a child who attends the daycare. “I don’t have anything bad to say about her.”
Police continue to investigate.
